Anatomical signs of bark are widely used for diagnostics of plants, clarification of taxonomic boundaries, scientific and forensic examinations. In the work diagnostic signs of the bark of Verescue bark are revealed, and a key for the definition of the studied species is compiled. Clarifications in the allocation of subfamily ranks within the Vereskovye family are proposed. The data obtained can also be used in reading the courses "Botany", "Dendrology", and "Plant Physiology" in biological specialties of higher educational institutions.
